Description: The Rajwada was constructed by Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar I for residential purpose. In 1801, Sarje Rao Ghatge, Commader-in-Chief of Scindia attacked and completely destroyed the Rajwada. After this, the royal residence shifted to Bhanpura, Mandsaur. The capital of holkars was shifted in 1767 by Ahilya Bai to Maheshwar. Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Shifted it to Bhanpura. After the treaty of Mandsaur in 1818, Indore was again made the capital of Holkars.

The majestic and imposing seven storeyed structure was conducted soon after Malhar Rao Holkar II at an estimated cost of Rs. 4 lakhs in 1818 to 1827. This is a loftyand imposing structure, having magnificent seven storeyed gateway in front. It was built in its present by Malhar Rae Holkar II after Mandsaur Treaty of 1818 at the cost of Rs. 4 lakhs.
