Description: Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, famous for Stone Latticework (Jaali), is one of the renowned mosques in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was rebuilt in 1572-73 by Sheikh Saeed al-Habshi Sultani, previously it was a small brick structure. During the British colonial period, the mosque was used as the office of the Taluka Mamlatdar. When Curzon, the Viceroy of India, visited the city he recognized the architectural significance and ordered the removal of the office. The mosque is spread over an area of 1078.25 S.mtr., this small mosque has become world famous for its unique semicircular latticed windows, The lattices carved on the top of its western wall are famous all over the world.

The wood intertwined with each other is made of stone. There are about 10 lattices in this mosque, out of which 7 lattices are made of stones and three lattices are open. There are two minarets at the entrance of Tiki Masjid and 15 domes are built on 12 pillars inside. The tomb of Sidi Sayyed is built near the mosque. The carving work in this mosque is excellent, that is why it is also called Sidi Sayyed's Carving. Built right in the middle of Ahmedabad near the Lal Darwaja, this mosque is an example of Indo-Arabic architecture. Its walls are made of marble. When the British took over India, they removed one lattice from the mosque and kept it in the British Museum. The Sidi Saiyed Jaali, a masterpiece of architecture, is an important symbol of the city, which has been made the logo of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IMA) and the Postal Department has also displayed it as a PPC.
