Description: Reis Magos Fort is located on the northern bank of the River Mandovi, 8 km. from Fort Aguada, almost opposite the city of Panaji. The name “Reis Magos” in Portuguese means "three kings. Surrounded by strong laterite walls equipped with Portuguese bastions, The fort previously hosted dignitaries from Lisbon, the fort played an important role in the war against the Marathas in the early 18th century. This fort was used as a prison situated at the southeastern end of the province of Bardez. It was later expanded on different occasions and finally rebuilt in the year 1707. Although it is much smaller in size than Aguada Fort, but a much higher altitude. Spectacular views are visible all around from here. It is in good condition and is maintained. At that time accommodated 33 cannons and a small garrison. Nearly from it, flows a spring of excellent water in abundance, at the base of which stands the church of Reis Magos, the path to which leads up by stairs.
