Description: Humpback dolphins are members of the Sousa species. This dolphin is a coastal dolphin that can be found on the coast of Africa, India and South Australia,

Humpback dolphins have a hump on the front of their dorsal fin, as well as a carren on the ventral side. The dorsal fin of the humpback dolphin is somewhat inclined. The pectoral fins are quite small and the tail fins have a well-defined central notch. Goa is the best place in India to see them Palolem Beach is situated in Canacona in southern Goa, here they can be seen jumping, swimming, eating together and having fun. There are 35 species of dolphins living in oceans around the world. In Goa, two of them can be seen – the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins, which are very sociable, and the finless porpoise, which are shy. The Indo-Pacific humpback variety has a noticeable hump and an extended rear flipper. Finless porpoises are small. They have a sweet smile and usually live in freshwater. But a small population can be seen in the waters of Goa. However, they are more difficult to identify due to their small numbers and shy nature.
