Description: The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a Spiritual Community located in the Indian territory of Puducherry. The Ashram grew from a small community of disciples on 24 Nov. 1926, at which time Sir Arbindo handed over Ashram responsibility of the seekers and the inner and outer life of the Ashram to his spiritual associate, The Mother. This date is therefore generally known as Foundation Day, as the size of the Ashram, which initially had 24 seekers, is now a large community of 2000 people, including 650 students in their Education Centre. The Ashram residents perform all useful services in various aspects every day. As a result, the Ashram provides its members with everything necessary for a good healthy life such as Food, Clothing, Shelter, Medical Care, Education etc.

In the main building of the Ashram, a white marble temple in the shade of the Seva tree where the Samadhis of Sri Aurobindo and the mother are interred. Ashram is a unique example of a different kind of institution whose aim is the perfection of life and not the renunciation of it. The Symbol of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother logo of the Ashram are depicted in PPC, which means that the central circle represents divine consciousness The 4 petals of the mother symbol and the four pillars supporting the Matrimandir. The 12 petals represent the 12 aspects of life.
