Description: Shanti Stupa located in Leh is one of the magnificent monuments of the Ladakh region. It is a white-domed monument built in 1991 by Gyomyo Nakamura, a Japanese Buddhist monk, to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism. The purpose behind the construction of this structure was to promote world peace and prosperity. Below the stupa is the relic of Buddha, which was installed by the 14th Dalai Lama.

It is a religious place and beautiful views of mountains and nature are worth seeing from here. Shanti Stupa is constructed about 3600 meters above sea level. It is a hub for adventure enthusiasts because of its awesomeness. The architecture of Shanti Stupa has been done in a way to make it a two-tier structure. On the first level, there are reliefs of the Dharma Chakra with deer on each side and a central golden Buddha image seated on a platform. On the second level, there are depictions of the Buddha's birth and death and defeating devils while meditating. However, on both levels, one can see a series of small meditating Buddha reliefs.
