Description: Sri Vaishnodevi Mata Tirth is situated in the middle of the Trikuta mountains in Katra, 61 km from Jammu, 61 km from Jammu amid The Trikuta Mountains, is considered one of the Holiest Pilgrimage sites for North Indian Hindus. The temple is located at an altitude of 5,200 feet and Goddess Shakti is worshipped here in the form of Maha Kali, Maha Saraswati and Maha Lakshmi. A cave temple, the temple has three sacred

'pindis' or stone representations of the three energy forms that are worshipped as the aforementioned goddesses. Interestingly, despite having the same source rock, all the pindis have different colours and textures. The pale white rock is said to represent Goddess Saraswati, who is situated on the extreme left, the pale red rock in the middle depicts Goddess Lakshmi, and the black rock on the left represents Goddess Kali. The first reference to the goddess is found in the Mahabharata, where the holy cave temple is said to have been built by the Pandavas. According to another legend, more than 700 years ago, the legend of Vaishno Devi and Bhairav Nath is also very famous. Here she took the form of Maha Kali and beheaded Bhairav Nath. At the place where the severed head fell, there is a temple of Bhairav Nath. The third legend is that Vaishno Devi was initially called Trikuta and when she was nine years old, she was doing penance for Lord Rama on the seashore. At that time, Lord Rama was passing by in search of Sita. Seeing the girl immersed in prayer, he blessed her and Trikuta accepted him as her husband. Lord Rama was married, so impressed by the girl's devotion, he named her Vaishnavi and promised that in Kaliyuga, he would marry her in the incarnation of Kalki. He also asked her to meditate in a cave in the Trikuta range. The first PPC for Vaishno Devi Shrine was issued on 04.10.2004 and was round after that reintroduced on 19.04.2012 was square, now as per the source the old PPC has been re-started.
