Description: Republic Day commemorates the day when the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950. It was created and adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. This Constitution envisions a country where all residents and all religions are respected and no one is discriminated against. The Republic of India was established from the historic Parliament House. The Parliament House is a circular building that was designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker in 1912–1913. Its construction began in 1921 and in 1927 the building was opened as the State Council, Central Legislative Assembly. The Indian Parliament is the supreme legislative body of India. It was established in 1921. Parliament alone has legislative supremacy and thus ultimate power over all political bodies in India.

The Parliament consists of the President of India and two houses called the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. It came into force 29 months after the country's independence. The Constitution could not be made in a day, so an assembly was formed to make the Constitution, which was called the Constituent Assembly. Indian Independence Act-1947 was in force in the country till the constitution was made. Through this, it was decided to run the country until the Constitution was written by Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was one of the chief architects of the Indian Constitution. There were a total of 299 members in the assembly that wrote the Indian Constitution and the president of this assembly was Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The Constituent Assembly completed its work on 26 Nov. 1949 and the Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. Since then every year 26th January has been celebrated as Republic Day with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Now this PPC was discontinued.
