In Karnataka, several types of jasmine are grown, including Udupi Mallige or Jasminum sambac, famous for its fragrance. The cultivation of Bhatkal Mallige, which This was started about 100 years ago in Bhatkal and later in Shankarapura, Udupi District, has gained popularity. The flowers are highly sought in the whole western region of India. This variety is economically viable compared to other types.
