The Bara Gazi Toph is crafted from Panch Dhatu, an alloy traditionally comprising five metals, and has a diameter of 2 feet with walls 7 inches thick. Its immense size surpasses other notable cannons, such as the Jagadamba Bhavani Toph in Koulas Fort, Telangana, which was previously claimed to be the largest in the Guinness Book of World Records. Although larger cannons like the Tsar Cannon in Russia and the Jaivana Cannon in Jaipur hold higher rankings globally, the Bara Gazi Toph remains a significant historical artefact. The Kalaburagi Fort itself is an architectural marvel, covering an area of 0.5 acres with a periphery of 3 km. It features double fortification and a 30-foot-wide moat, offering a robust defence. Despite its rich history. However, efforts by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the State Archaeology Department aim to preserve and highlight this extraordinary piece of history. It remains a prominent feature within the Kalaburagi Fort, drawing visitors and history enthusiasts to marvel at its scale and craftsmanship.
