This temple of Muruga is one of the most revered temples in South India, he is revered as a war hero, and he is also the commander of the army of devas. This temple is in the Dravidian architectural style. Its main entrance is towards the east. It is believed that this pillar has mystical divine powers that protect the devotees from the poisonous breath of the serpent Vasuki inside the sanctum sanctorum. There are also other temples inside the complex that house Lord Shiva, Goddess Nagaraja and Ganesha. According to the legend associated with the temple, it is believed that Vasuki and other snakes took refuge under Lord Subrahmanya in the caves of Subrahmanya. Vasuki who was a serpent devotee of Shiva once took refuge in Subramanya to escape from Garuda. Subramanya blessed Vasuki and appeared before him. Since then, Vasuki has been worshipped in this temple. It is also believed that worshipping Lord Vasuki is equivalent to worshipping Lord Subramanya.
