Description: Bandipur National Park was created in 1931 by the Maharaja of Mysore in an area of ​​90 sq km and was named Venugopal Wildlife Park. At that time it was the private hunting ground of the then Maharajas. This Tiger Reserve was established in 1973 under Project Tiger by adding about 800 sq km to the Venugopal Wildlife Park. It is one of the most beautiful and well-managed national parks. This national park was created by incorporating most of the forest areas of the then Venugopal Wildlife Park established under the Government of India notification on 19th Feb 1941 and in 1985 the area was expanded to cover an area of ​​874.20 sq km and was named Bandipur National Park. 

This reserve was brought under Project Tiger in 1973. Also, a 39.80 sq km area was handed over during the year 2007-08. Nugu Wildlife Sanctuary was handed over during the year 2010-11. This park is one of the major refuges for endangered Asiatic wild elephants. Apart from these two famous fauna, other endangered species like sloth bear, gaur, Indian rock python, jackal, mugger and four-horned antelope, Bandipur sambar, mouse deer, chital, sloth bear and rare flying lizards are also found here. It also has a variety of timber trees. India Post, Karnataka Circle has renewed this PPC twice, 1- Tiger paw and 2- Two coloured cachat with small tiger face and put PPC introduction date.
