Description: Jwalamukhi Temple is nestled between the beautiful Dhauladhar range and sloping hills, with a serene atmosphere for devotees and visitors. Situated 35 km from the Kangra Valley in the town of Jwalamukhi in Himachal Pradesh, is a revered Shakti Peeth and a site of immense spiritual and mythological significance. Unlike other temples, the Jwalamukhi Temple has no idols. Instead, it has flames of natural gas emanating from it, which are worshipped as Goddess Jwalamukhi. The nine eternal flames represent the nine goddesses and according to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Sati's tongue fell when Lord Shiva tore her body into pieces. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.

It is believed that the Pandavas visited this holy site during their exile. King Bhumi Chand Katoch of Kangra is credited with discovering the site and building the temple after a divine vision. Displeased with the fame of the temple, Emperor Akbar tried to extinguish the fire there with water. When the flames did not die down, he acknowledged this divine power and offered a golden parasol which turned into copper indicating the Goddess' rejection of the gift. The temple has a golden dome and an ornate silver-plated folding door. A large brass bell gifted by the King of Nepal hangs at the entrance. The main flame resides in a hollow stone pit within the temple. The Jwalamukhi Temple remains an important pilgrimage site, where the eternal flames symbolize the Goddess' divine presence and the indomitable spirit of faith.
