Strategically located, the fort served as a resting place for the king during his journey from Jind to Safidon. Kila Zafargarh was built with the cooperation of the Maharaja of Nabha, Patiala and Jind princely states and was part of a wider reward system under which the Jind princely state received areas such as Dadri, Bawal and Kanti for assisting the British during the 1857 revolt. The fort had three rooms, a courtyard, stables, accommodation for elephants and horses and was surrounded by a broad wall and moat. After India's independence in 1947, the fort remained under the control of the Maharaja of Jind before it was repurposed as an armed forces training centre. It was later handed over to the Forest Department and with the construction of the Madhuban training centre, Kila Zafargarh fell into neglect and disrepair. India Post Haryana Circle Issued this PPC which was proposed and designed by Mr. Siddharth Sahrai our PPC group member and through his continuous efforts, it was completed in about one year for which he deserves special thanks for providing us with a New PPC from Haryana.
