Description: Shillong Golf Course, located in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is a historic and scenic landmark renowned for its rich heritage and natural beauty. Established in 1898 by British Civil Service Officers Mr. J.C. Arbuthnot and Mr. B.C. Allen, it originally featured a nine-hole layout in Laban. By 1924, the course was upgraded to an 18-hole, par-70 layout, spanning 6,081 yards across approximately 121 acres. This redesign, led by Captain Jackson, Mr. C.K. Rhodes, and Mr. E.L. Walts, solidified its status as one of India’s most prestigious golf courses.

Often called The Glen Eagle of the East by the United States Golf Association and Museum, This Golf Course is the highest in Asia, situated at an altitude of 5,200 ft. It is celebrated for its challenging design, including the iconic 6th hole, which features a 540-mtr slope. Surrounded by rolling hills, dense pine forests, and lush greenery, it offers breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. The course is not only a haven for golf enthusiasts but also a prominent tourist destination, hosting major golfing events and attracting visitors with its blend of history, sport, and natural charm. Its cool climate, expansive open spaces, and fresh mountain air make it an ideal location for playing golf or simply enjoying the serene environment.
