Description: Maa Samleshwari Temple is 3 km away from Sambalpur city, On the banks of Mahanadi. Maa Samleshwari is the presiding deity of the area. It is a strong religious force in parts of western Odisha. The structure of the temple is divided into two separate parts. The square-shaped sanctum sanctorum, in which the deities are enshrined, is situated on four steps beneath a 10 ft. scientific memorial path that has been installed and 12 stone pillars have also been installed. 11 idols of Devis are also installed on the outer wall of the sanctum sanctorum which devotees take time to worship. The platform of the temple structure is approximately 16 feet high and the upper part of the roof of the building is square. The arches of the temple of the goddess are built on eight bases with an arched roof, starting from the wall at about 18 feet and tapering to 35 feet. This Temple and the Folk instruments which are in vogue in the Sambalpur Region are very famous for its local tribes' musical instruments like Dhole, Madal, Nishan, Tasa, Pakhoj, Bansi, bir-kahal, Gini, Ektara, Muhuri, Ghulgula, Ghunguru, Jhanj some of the instruments images are placed in the PPC.
