Description: Puri is a coastal city located in Odisha. Shri Jagannath Dham is situated in this city. It is believed that it is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Shri Jagannath temple is a form of Lord Krishna’s temple. The first description of this Shri Jagannath temple is found in Vanparva of Mahabharata. There are three idols installed in the temple which are made from wood. Lord Neelamadhav and his brother Balram have small hands but no legs, while sister Subhadra has no hands or legs. All the people considered it to be God's will and prayed for these incomplete idols. The present temple was built in the 7th century. Before that, this temple was also built in the second century BC. This temple has been broken three times. It was renovated in 1174 AD by Anang Bhimdev, the ruler of Odisha. The Temple of Puri is world famous for its annual Rath Yatra. The sea waves shown in this PPC of the temple are such wonderful things of nature which seem to be contrary to the code of conduct of nature in which the direction of the wind is dominant. But in Puri, the wind blows from the land towards the sea. The second one takes the first step inside the temple, and the sound of the ocean waves stops completely, as soon as people come out of the temple, the sound of the sea starts being heard again. The reason is believed to be that Sister Subhadra wished that there should be peace inside the temple. That is why sea waves have also been shown along with the temple in the PPC.
