PO Name: Netarhat

Description: Netarhat is a town in the Chhotanagpur plateau in the Latehar district in Jharkhand. Called the “Queen of Chhotanagpur” and “Darjeeling of Jharkhand”, it is a popular hill station in the area and is famous for its spectacular sunrise and sunset. Netarhat has many places of tourist interest which include Magnolia Point (an ideal spot for watching the sunset), Upper Ghaghri Falls, Lower Ghaghri Falls, Koel View Point, Naspati Garden, etc. Netarhat can be reached from Ranchi or Daltonganj. Located 156 Km. from Ranchi. Situated at an altitude of 3696ft. It has waterfalls (Hudru, Jonha, Dasham, Sita, Lodh, Mirchaiya, Sadani), Betla National Park, and Kechki (famous for the shooting location of famous director Satyajit Ray's film Aranyer Din Ratri). Before independence, it was a popular holiday destination for British officials of Bihar and Bengal. The name is derived from 'Netar' and 'Haat', which in the local dialect means bamboo and market respectively. Due to the proximity of this area to the tribal area and the city roads, a weekly market is organized here where the tribals fulfil all their needs by selling the items found in the forest and buying from here. That is why it is called 'Netarhat'.
